Thanksgiving

We had a nice Thanksgiving yesterday. Kevin's Mom & Dad hosted the gathering for Daryl's side of the family. It was a smaller crowd this year, everybody just seems to have a lot going on. I think was the first year since we were married that we didn't have more than one place to go on Thanksgiving. We got together awhile back for my Mom's side of the family and then last Sunday we went to my Grandma Forre's house. On Saturday they had Sue's side of the family in Omaha. We didn't go because Kevin was in the field and I didn't really want to take the boys by myself all the way to Omaha.

The guys had to harvest some yesterday so that they could keep the dryer full, but they were able to enjoy the day little bit. Some of the relatives even got a combine ride out of the deal.

By the way, if everything goes according to plan - Kevin and Daryl should finish up harvesting tomorrow. It has been one long drawn out harvest this year!!! It will be so nice to finally have all of the crops out of the field and safely stored away. Maybe things can return to normal around here now - well as normal as a farmer's life can be.

It was a beautiful day today. We tried to get Christmas card pictures taken. I did end up getting a couple of shots that are going to have to work. It is not easy trying to get 3 small kids to cooperate for a picture - so you just take what you can get.

Here are some pictures that I didn't use...

Kellen is doing really well in this picture, not so well for the other two.

I had planned to write up a "what I'm thankful for" post on Wednesday night in time for Thanksgiving, but our power was out from 6:30 pm to 10:30pm. Sooo I didn't get too much anything done on Wednesday night since everything requires electricity. You really don't realize how much you take electricity for granted until you don't have any. Anyways, I'm feeling very thankful this holiday season so hopefully I can still get something posted. I've fallen behind on posting pictures as well, so hopefully when I get things caught up around here (hahaha) I can get some pictures posted.

Caden's 2nd Birthday

This post is long overdue. Our nephew Caden had his 2nd birthday a couple of weeks ago now. Mike and Kelly had a birthday party for him last Sunday. It was a fun evening.

What a BOO-tiful Weekend!!!

We had a great Halloween weekend. The weather was so nice!! It's hard to believe is can be so cold and rainy out one day and then so beautiful the next. But we lucked out. We started our "trick-or-treating" fairly early on Saturday, as we had a lot of places to get to. First we stopped by my parents house, then we went to my Grandma's house. Then we met up with Kevin's sister and her family at his parents house. From there we went trick-or-treating around town for a couple of hours. And finally we ended up at Kevin's Grandma's house. The boys all got a ton of candy. It was a fun time!

Here's Tyson with the pumpkin that he decorated at school

My three monkeys - I mean Star Wars clone trooper, Batman and a chunky monkey

Ready to go....

The monkey and clone trooper running around with Charlie

Batman was being goofy

Ali was a witch and Caden was a giraffe - so cute!!

Daryl and Kellen reading Kellen's new book

Sue (Grandma), Caden and Cooper holding hands.

We were lucky enough to celebrate two holidays in one weekend. We had our 1st of four Thanksgiving celebrations on Sunday with my Mom's side of the family.
Cooper, Kellen, Aubree, Brooke, Jenae and Tyson

The girls were holding puppies. The puppies were so cute - they looked like little cotton balls.

Cooper was talking to Grandpa about his puppy
It was a busy, but fun weekend!!

Hello there

It's hard to believe we are on to the last week of October already. Where has this month gone, better yet, where has this year gone? Well this month I've embarked on a "spring cleaning" of my house. What a project, I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of what all needs to be cleaned and organized and decluttered. I've almost finished the kitchen and the front entry, and the bathroom is done. That leaves me the living room, office/toy room, porch, basement, and upstairs. I don't even want to think about our closets. Anywho I sure will be glad when I am finished, if that is even possible ;)

When the weather cooperates the guys are in the field. They were able to finish up beans last week, and were able to get started on the corn. But since it keeps snowing it could be a long harvest and a long winter.
Tyson is loving preschool! They went on two field trips this month. A couple of weeks ago they toured the fire station and last week they went to a pumpkin patch. This week they painted pumkins that they got from the pumpkin patch. They are learning a lot of fun things, too, like sign language.
The boys love to go with Kevin any chance they can. Lately, he's been taking Tyson and Kellen with him. I know it won't be too long and Cooper is going to be trailing along. I guess they will just have to take turns more or something.

Cooper got a much needed hair cut this week. This is before the hair cut.

Kellen just bein' goofy

Aubree hugging Tyson
Aubree came to stay with us for awhile last Friday. However, when she got here the little boys were sleeping and Tyson was at preschool. Then we had to go get Tyson and Aubree fell asleep in the pickup, and she stayed sleeping until I woke her up before Halie got to our house to get her so that she could eat something before she left. So the kids only got to play a little bit before Aubree had to leave.

Tyson and Kellen were going out to work with Kevin. Cooper was wanting to go with, too.

We have a pretty uneventful weekend planned. Just the way I like it! My mom is watching Dusty and Erin's girls today, so we are headed over that way to see them.

Ghosts of Halloween Past

We are in the midst of figuring out our (the boys) Halloween costumes for this year. I think we have it close to lined up. Tyson and Kellen have an opinion and Cooper's just happy wearing anything. Overall, the boys are pretty easy to please. I'm sure in a couple years that will all change. Anyways, I thought it would be fun to look back through the years and see what they wore.

~2004~
Tyson was a dinosaur and Jenae was a Huskers cheerleader

~2005~Tyson was Batman

My brother Dusty & his wife Erin threw a Halloween party that year. Kevin and I were a trashy couple on our wedding day. (No I was not really pregnant)

And since I put an embarrassing photo of myself on here, I thought it was only appropriate to embarrass show you others who were there. Sorry guys ;)

Kyle and Halie were Elvis and Priscilla Presley.

Erin was Daisy Duke and Dusty was Joe Dirt.

By the way, their Halloween party was a lot of fun!!

~2006~
Tyson was a horse

Kellen was the dinosaur

~2007~
Tyson was Batman, Kellen was Robin, and Ali was a giraffe

~2008~
Cooper was the dinosaur (yes-it is a right of passage that everyone in our family must wear this costume for their first halloween, not really, but at that age they really don't care or know the difference), Kellen was a monkey and Tyson was a storm trooper from Star Wars

What are you going to be for Halloween?
