Our Christmas, part 1

This was definately a Christmas that will not long be forgotten. On Christmas Eve, we headed into church for the 5pm mass. The roads were starting to drift a little and the wind and snow were getting worse, but when we left church the weather was even worse. It was near white out conditions and the drifts were getting bigger. I was very thankful that we didn't have far to go to our Christmas (my in-laws house) and we didn't have far to go home later that night (just across the road). We had just finished supper and the power went out. Turns out the power company shut it off to work on some loose lines. It was back on in about 45 minutes. The kids kept entertained with flashlights. Once the lights came back on we opened gifts and played games. It was really a fun time despite what was going on outside.

When the lights were out, Kevin decided to go over to our house to get a gift that we had forgotten. He borrowed Cooper's hat and I caught it on camera.

They also gave all of the kids a puzzle. Kellen had his put together in no time. He really likes puzzles and is really good at putting them together.

Christmas #2

We had another Christmas gathering on Sunday. It was at Kevin's Grandma's house. It was a good time and fun to see everyone. Kellen and I had to go home early because he got sick, but otherwise it was a great day.

Christmas Baking Weekend

A couple of weekends ago, my sister Halie and her family hosted all of us for our annual Christmas baking weekend. Tyson, Kellen and I went out to their house on Friday night. Kevin was kind enough to keep Cooper for me. Halie and I worked on some things that night, and then bright and early the next morning we got to work. My mom, Erin, Brooke, Allyx, Lacey and Riley joined us on Saturday. We finished up some baking, etc. on Sunday and headed for home that afternoon. Seven kids 5 years old and under makes for a challenging weekend, but it is a lot of fun and the nice thing about it is we get a lot of our baking done in that weekend. It's just fun to hang out with my family, too.

Tyson and Jenae were able to bundle up and brave the cold. It helped them run off some energy.

Important announcements...

~ I hate the stomach flu!

~ Christmas is cancelled!

and

~ there is going to be a new baby in the family!

And for your viewing enjoyment - no pictures are included!!

Let me explain...

We have been dealing with the stomach flu in our house for a few days now and it feels like it's been weeks. Well I guess two weeks ago we had a stomach bug at our house, but it was not near as vicious as this one has been. So far, I haven't caught it, but my luck has to run out sometime. Yuck!! Did I mention I.hate.the.stomach.flu!!!!

Ok - Christmas isn't cancelled, just the gathering that was planned for that day for us is. The weather forecast is ugly for the next several days and some people would be coming from some distance. As far as I know, we still have Christmas gatherings planned for Christmas Eve, the day after Christmas, and now two on the Sunday after Christmas. Maybe, the weather man is wrong and the storm will miss us - we couldn't be so lucky.

And on to some good news finally, Kevin's sister Kelly and her husband Mike are expecting their third child. She is due very close to my birthday - so that is exciting. We are very happy for them.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.....

...around here. The boys helped me decorate the tree a couple of weeks ago.

The boys are always standing on the stool by the little Christmas village.
We have a Christmas party today with Kevin's dad's side of the family. It's just in town at his Grandma's house so we don't have to travel far. It should be fun!

Pictures coming soon from our Christmas baking weekend.

Christmas gathering

So I'm about two weeks behind at blogging once again. Two weeks ago Saturday we had our first Christmas gathering. My mom's side of the family likes to get together early so more of us can make it. It was a great time and Santa even made it again this year.

This is my Grandpa and Grandma Noble (my mom's parents). They are two very special people who continue to inspire me and most of the people that know then.

My Grandpa and Grandma again with their children. My Uncle Bill, Aunt Jean and my mom.
The kids - why it is so hard to get a good picture? ha

Kellen & Santa
When he arrived most of the littlest kids were scared - Cooper screamed. When Santa sat down, Jenae & Aubree were right there and hopped up on his lap and talked to him. Well, much to our surprise our shy little boy was standing there waiting for his turn. When Jenae and Aubree were finished, Kellen walked right up to Santa and got on his lap. This was very surpising to us - it took no coaching or anything. He even talked right up to Santa. When he gave Kellen his present, Kellen said 'thank you Santa Claus'. It was the cutest thing!

Santa & Tyson
And not to be shown up by his little brother, Tyson (again with no coaching) walked right up to Santa and got on his lap when Kellen was finished. This may not seem too out of the normal for most kids - but I have two very shy boys.

And then there's Cooper, he's not shy. But he was terrified of Santa. I'm sure in a year or two he'll be right there next to his brothers. As you can see Cooper had a cookie in his hand. And since all of the goodies were out on the table all day where Cooper could reach, he had a lot of cookies!

Snowed in

These last couple of days it has gotten a lot colder. We have quite a bit of snow on the ground as well. Tuesday & Wednesday it was pretty nasty outside. I didn't end up going to work on Tuesday since they were calling for high winds along with the snow. I didn't really feel like driving in a blizzard or having to stay at work overnight. Yesterday we did venture out. We had a tax appointment and wanted to do some Christmas shopping. When we left in the morning, the country roads were really drifted. The highways were a little better. We wouldn't have made it if it weren't for 4-wheel drive. By the time we headed home in the evening the roads had been cleared.

We did get a lot of shopping done yesterday. One good thing about the weather was that there wasn't a big crowd at the stores which is always nice. I just have a couple of things to get and I will be done Christmas shopping for one more year!

Kevin finally talked me into getting a new tv. I've been dragging my feet on buying a new one for quite some time. I mean really our old tv worked just fine ;) One bad thing for me, Kevin informed me that now we will probably have to watch more sports.

I'm so behind on blogging. I have so many pictures and things to write about, but things around here have been h.e.c.t.i.c. On top of the usual everyday cleaning, cooking, laundry, taking care of 3 little boys, etc. etc. I've been trying to get my Christmas decorations up, cards out, shopping done, wrapping done, etc. etc. I'm sure everyone is extra busy right now!! I don't know how full time working moms get it all done. It's busy times like this that I'm so thankful I only work two days a week at a very flexible, understanding job.

Last Sunday we had our first Christmas of the year. I was a good time and nice to have one done before the rest of the madness sets in. I'll have pictures up later.

Tomorrow, the boys and I will be traveling out west to stay with my sister and her family to do our annual Christmas baking weekend. It should be alot of fun and I hope we can get a lot done. It could be interesting as we will have 7 kids to take care of as well. Thankfully, Kevin is going to keep Cooper home with him. I felt kind of guilty leaving Cooper home since he is the only cousin that isn't going to be there, but he's young enough that he isn't going to know the difference and I can only imagine the trouble Cooper can find to get into at Halie's house. I still keep saying that I hope this is just a phase with him. We can only hope!! I also felt guilty leaving him home because I know Kevin was looking forward to weekend by himself with no screaming kids, no nagging wife just peace and quiet and the freedom to go and do what ever he wanted. But again I thought of all of the trouble Cooper can get into and how little help I would be with the baking as I would probably be chasing him around all day. Cooper is a totally different kid when he is by himself, so I know Kevin will have no problem with him all weekend!

Anyways, here are some pictures from oh the last month or so...

One day we were over at my parents and my mom makes good angel food cake with marshmallow fluffy frosting and lets just say Cooper loooved it. Can ya tell.

Lacey was home that weekend and saddled up Bobbin for a ride. She let the boys each take a spin. Here's Tyson taking his turn.

My parents have since sold Bobbin to a great family in Colorado. Bobbin was getting older and just wasn't getting used like he should/could be, so they felt it was time for him to go to a good home. I think it was pretty hard on my parents to let him go, as Bobbin is a part of the family. I don't remember exactly, but I think he's been with the family for almost 20 years. There will never be another Bobbin, he is one of the best!!
